Planning a fishing trip to northern France? Hauts-de-France is a land of lowland rivers, the vast ponds of the Somme valley and a dense network of navigable canals full of silver fish, carp and predators. The Canche and Authie rivers are famous for sea trout.
The ponds and backwaters along the Somme are among the north's best carp venues, while the canals give reliable roach, bream and zander fishing all year. Sea-trout season on the Canche and Authie peaks in late summer and autumn. The Opal Coast is free to fish with mandatory registration for listed species.
What permit do you need for Hauts-de-France?
A carte de pêche is legally required in France for fishing in rivers, canals, and lakes. You choose how long it stays valid (1 day, 7 days, or the annual interfederal card), fill in your details, and we email you the official PDF license.
